Closing Ceremony of the Transport Community Summer School on Connectivity and the Official Presidency Handover of the Regional Steering Committee from Montenegro to North Macedonia
Ohrid, 07 July – The Transport Community Permanent Secretariat organised the Closing Ceremony of the TCT Capacity Building Summer School on Connectivity and the Official Presidency Handover of the Regional Steering Committee from Montenegro to North Macedonia.
Mr Zakonjsek, Director of the Transport Community, delivered concluding remarks at the end of the five-day Transport Community Summer School. Certificates of active participation at the Summer School on Connectivity were awarded to the participants. This capacity-building program not only enhances knowledge and capacity-building in policy and project areas but also serves as a platform for regional partners to come together, discuss shared challenges, and find collaborative solutions. The Summer School brought together 26 representatives from Transport Ministries, Customs Administrations, and Border Police to learn from peers in the Border CrossingPoint organisations, free movement and Schengen area, joint border controls, and integrated border management. The Summer School was organised in collaboration with the Regional School of Public Administration (RESPA).
Following the conclusion of the Capacity Building TCT Summer School, the Official Presidency Handover of the Regional Steering Committee from Montenegro to North Macedonia took place, with Deputy Prime Minister Ibrahimovic and Transport Minister Bochvarski in attendance.
During the Montenegrin presidency, the Transport Community achieved numerous milestones, including the establishment of the Western Balkans Road Safety Observatory system, the organisation of the Connectivity Summit, monitoring the revision of TEN-T maps and agreeing on new revised maps, implementation of Green Lanes initiatives within the Western Balkans and with EU Member States, and the successful conduct of political and technical level meetings.
The incoming Presidency of North Macedonia will build upon the progress made during the Montenegrin Presidency, with a focus on strengthening coordination at all levels, involving other ministries, agencies, and civil society entities that play significant roles in the transport sector. Additionally, the promotion of policy reforms remains crucial in the pursuit of our common objective – inclusion in the EU transport markets and the European family.
