PRISTINA – The 12th meeting of the Transport Community’s Technical Committee for Transport of Dangerous Goods gathered its members in Pristina, Kosovo* on 16 November. The meeting discussed the ongoing efforts to enhance the implementation of relevant standards related to the transport of dangerous goods in the Western Balkans.
The session, held in a hybrid format, kicked off by welcoming remarks of representatives of the Transport Community, European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, Albanian Railways S.A, and the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure of Kosovo.
The participants discussed the Transport Community’s 2023 Progress Report, analysing the achievements of the current year and outlining potential future actions based on ongoing bilateral activities.
The follow-up on TAIEX missions related to fire and rescue services in Montenegro and Albania was also discussed during the meeting after a joint report on the completed events, addressing missions’ impact, worth, and prospects was presented.
Preparedness of emergency services to handle accidents involving dangerous goods, the ongoing technical assistance provided by the Transport Community, and a follow-up on the Workshop on Enforcement in Albania were among the agenda’s points, too.
Finally, a notable announcement made during the meeting was the endorsement of the Transport Community’s Regional Steering Committee to continue discussions on the implementation of 112 and eCall services in the region.
