Skopje, 6 September – Transport Community delegation led by Director Matej Zakonjsek visited North Macedonia and held a productive meeting with the Minister of Transport and Communications Blagoj Bocvarski. Rail transport was in focus of the meeting, having in mind the upcoming Western Balkans Rail Summit, which will take place on 13 September in Belgrade. Both interlocutors noted the importance of completing rail Corridor VIII, linking Skopje and Sofija. Zakonjsek also noted Ministry’s efforts in the area of road safety and progress on important road projects in the country.
On the same day, Director Zakonjsek met with the Director of Macedonian rail infrastructure company Mr Hari Lokvenec. The meeting was an opportunity to stress importance of modernising the railways linking Corridors X and VIII and the need to transpose and implement rail legislation that will allow North Macedonia to move towards establishment of a unified rail market at the regional level.
