This online workshop is an exchange of experience offered by experts from EU Member States for all administrations in the WB6 as part of transport needs to be carefully regulated and enforced. The event is organised and funded by the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) of the European Commission.
Goods classified as dangerous have contributed to our society, but at the same time, have they have created numerous disasters since the industrial revolution. Transport of dangerous goods is regulated in order to prevent, as far as possible, accidents to persons or property and damage to the environment, the means of transport employed or to other goods. Western Balkans needs to have regulations that allow for safe and secure transport of dangerous goods and, at the same time, regulations need to be framed so as not to impede the movement of such goods, other than those too dangerous to be accepted for transport. With this exception, the aim of regulations is to make transport feasible by eliminating risks or reducing them to minimum.
