CHISINAU – Experts and policymakers from the Western Balkans, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine gathered on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, at the Technical University of Moldova for the Transport Community’s 13th Meeting of the Technical Committee for Waterborne Transport and Multimodality. The meeting discusses the future of waterborne transport and multimodal logistics across the regions.
The key topics of discussion include a range of topics such as reducing carbon emissions in the maritime sector, using digital tools to make shipping faster and more efficient, strengthening connections between ports, rail, and road networks, and supporting the Transport Community’s observing participants with new transport solutions.
The meeting also focused on the actions envisaged by the Next Generation Action Plan for Waterborne Transport and Multimodality to be endorsed by the ministers of transport from the Western Balkans, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine later this year.
Activities within the meeting were financed under the grant NDICI-GEO-NEAR/2023/452688 to the Transport Community Permanent Secretariat related to preparatory activities to support the progressive involvement of Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the activities of the Transport Community
