VIENNA – The Transport Community’s Technical Committee on Railway held its 19th meeting in Vienna on 27-28 February 2024. The meeting’s agenda was packed with forward-looking initiatives aimed at shaping the future of rail operations. Key highlights included presentations by industry experts, covering the topics from high-speed line projects to the development of indicative TEN-T extensions.
The meeting also discussed upcoming projects and investments, framework agreements, capacity regulations, and interoperability implications, setting the stage for enhanced connectivity across the TEN-T network.
Discussions on the Transport Community’s New Generation Action Plan for Rail, EU Acquis proposals, and ERA activities for 2024, showcased a collective commitment to advancing rail transport in the region.
During the meeting, the participants from the Western Balkans underlined the importance of collaboration in addressing technical challenges and fostering sustainable growth.
The Technical Committee on Railways is a platform for collaboration and decision-making on rail-related matters within the Transport Community. It aims to enhance rail transportation in South East Europe and the Western Balkans by promoting cooperation among regional partners and stakeholders.
