Western Balkans Level Crossings Safety Report

Zero dead and seriously injured on railway crossings – this is one of Transport Community’s primary goals. Our mission is to help governments in the region to make roads safer for everybody. To achieve this, we focus on reducing safety risks, increasing capacity and performance on  the rail network and reducing operational risks for the railways. In the previous eight years, 750 accidents that occurred on railways crossings in resulted in 116 people losing their lives and 347 severely injured. The main reasons for the accidents at are drivers’ non-adherence to traffic rules as a consequence of insufficient education , unsatisfactory signaling and archaic.
